The GFR Slide: A Love Story

When I was first diagnosed with CKD, my GFR was 62. I was told not to worry. “We’ll just keep an eye on it,” they said, like my kidneys were toddlers playing near a cliff.

Now I’m at 43 and apparently in Stage 3, which sounds like an off-Broadway production starring me and some disappointing lab results.

My nephrologist said, “It’s a slow decline.” Which is also what someone also said recently about my dating life.

Anyone else riding the GFR slide? What’s your number? Do we collect them like Pokémon now? Is there a prize for lowest score?
